What Is Hazelnut Chocolate Milk?

Hazelnut Chocolate Milk is a beverage you can make at home using hazelnuts, cocoa powder, water, and a few other ingredients. It is a vegan-friendly version of traditional chocolate milk that tastes even better than the original. It is easy to prepare and store, meaning you can make it in advance and keep it in your fridge for whenever you are craving a fresh, cold cup of chocolate milk. It satisfies the craving and allows you to indulge without having dairy.

Why Is It Good to Make the Hazelnut Chocolate Milk?

It is good to make the Hazelnut Chocolate Milk because you know exactly what you are putting into the beverage. Products sold on shelves of stores often contain lots of processed sugar and preservatives that are not good for the body. If you want to prepare a dairy-free chocolate beverage consisting of only the finest, freshest ingredients, follow this recipe. It is a lot easier than you might think to prepare the milk. If you have ever tasted hazelnut spread and thoroughly enjoyed it, you will love this milk because it tastes a lot like it!

How Do You Strain Homemade Milk?

Use a handheld strainer or cheesecloth to help strain the homemade milk after allowing your hazelnuts to sit in the water for an extended period. The process of straining the beverage is a must because you want to remove any chunks of hazelnuts from the liquid before you serve it and drink it. It should take less than 10 minutes to strain everything.

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE HAZELNUT MILK

  • Hazelnuts. Buy hazelnuts that are not roasted, not salted, or flavored. It does not matter that they have the shell; we will strain them however you want.
  • Cocoa. Look for cocoa without sugar or anything else. I like to buy brands where you tell us where the cocoa comes from, have good work practices, and help workers.
  • Maple syrup. Look for it to be maple syrup and not maple-flavored corn syrup.
  • Salt. Sea or Himalayan salt. It’s just a pinch to get the best possible flavor out of the chocolate.
  • Vanilla
  • Purified water. Yes, use filtered water, always. It’s how they say, use a filter or be the filter.

Is It Better to Drink It Cold or Hot?

Like traditional chocolate milk, you can serve the Hazelnut Chocolate Milk cold or hot. It tastes great either way! If you want something refreshing after working out or before getting started on your day, consider drinking it cold. You can even add a few ice cubes to it. However, if you want something warm that will help you relax before bed, you can heat the milk in the microwave for less than a minute before drinking it.

Steps

  • SOAK – Soak hazelnuts in cool, filtered water for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  • LIQUEFY. When time passes, drain them and blend them very well with the three cups of clean water.
  • TASTE. Add the cocoa, maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Blend again and taste; adjust the flavor if necessary.
  • STRAIN. In a wide-mouth jar, a bowl, or a jug, put a mesh to make milk or a very fine strainer. Strain the milk
  • TO SERVE. Serve cold or on ice.
💡TIPS & IDEAS

• If you don't have hazelnuts, use almonds.

 • If you don't have time to soak the almonds, use unroasted cashews.

 • Use dates instead of maple syrup.

 • You can also serve it hot
