tips, tricks & other recipes

  • You can use any type of salt you like: Sea salt, Himalayan salt. Sel Gris. I used a combination of sea salt and Himalayan salt.
  • To flavor the salt you can use any chile, dried aromatics or spices that you have on hand. Use dried garlic, rosemary, thyme, lavender, orange or lemon peel, red chili peppers, dried chile ancho or if you feel extra adventurous you could also use chocolate or coffee.
  • If your grocery store does not carry dried lemon, lime or orange peel… make it yourself.
  • How to make dried citrus peel? Place on a baking sheet the peel of the citrus of your choice and bake for 2-3 hours at 200º F. Check on it constantly, you are looking to dehydrate the peel. It must be crispy when done and easy to grind.
  • Here are some recipes that would be great with any flavored salt: Sweet potato chips, Simple vegan broccoli soup, guacamole, smashed potatoes, etc.

So, if you are using this flavored salt as Christmas presents just wrap around the cute containers some cotton twine and tie holly berry leaves or other Christmas greenery.
