About the habanero salsa

This roasted habanero salsa is a flavorful, slightly spicy, and slightly sweet salsa that is perfect for serving with chips, on tacos, or as a condiment. The habanero peppers are so spicy that I love adding mango or pineapple to this salsa.

The fruit adds sweetness and balances the spiciness of the chiles. The apple cider vinegar brightens everything up and makes this salsa last longer.

Ingredients

  • Mangoes. Any type of mango will work for the salsa. I love to use Tommy mangoes because they are sweet, easy to cut and peel and have great color.
  • Habaneros. I like to use orange or yellow habaneros to continue the same color palate, but feel free to use what you have on hand.
  • Onion and garlic. Cut the onion into quarters and remove the first peel. Do not peel the garlic cloves. We need that paper thin layer to avoid a bunt garlic.
  • Vegetable oil. I like to use avocado oil, but any other oil with a high heat smoking point will work.
  • Apple cider vinegar.

How to make roasted fruit salsa

  • Place ingredients on a baking sheet, cover with oil and season with salt.
  • Roast at a 400ºF oven until all of them are completely charred.
  • Blend in a food processor with the vinegar and check for seasoning. Adjust if necessary.
  • Enjoy!
