About this recipe

This is a no-yeast sweet potato rolls recipe. It is fluffy, deliciously moist, and perfect for breakfast smothered in gravy or dinner. This is a quick and easy recipe.

I like to add dry sage to them to give them a flavor twist and to bring some fall flavors, but they will be as perfect without the sage.

They are perfectly warm when just out of the oven with some butter, or you could even use them for hamburger buns. These sweet potato dinner rolls are the perfect addition to any soup, stew, or healthy meal.

Ingredients for the sweet potato rolls

  • Sweet potatoes. It doesn’t matter how you cook your sweet potatoes, the rolls will be delicious. Just make sure the sweet potatoes are soft. They are so soft that when you mash them, they will be a soft purée.
  • Self-rising flour. You have to use self-rising flour, all-purpose flour (affiliate link) won’t work here.
  • I used dried sage and a good pinch of salt for extra ingredients.

How to make two ingredients for sweet potato rolls

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and prepare a baking sheet or pan by lightly oiling it. Mix the mashed sweet potato puree and self-rising flour in a medium bowl. Mix until well combined. The texture is soft and moist.

Be careful not to overmix, as the dough can become hard. If you use a food processor (affiliate link), pulse until everything is well combined, and finish mixing the dough with your hands. Add sage and salt if using.

Make a disk with the dough, cut it into 4-6 pieces, form the rolls, and place them on the prepared baking sheet or pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
